What The Qur'an Says About Non-Muslims

You can look up the following passages in any Qur'an. The first number is the chapter or "sura" number, the second number is the verse. Here's what the Qur'an says about non-Muslims:
They (people of the book, meaning Jews and Christians) disbelieve in Allah and confound truth with falsehood (3:70-3:71). Christians lie when they talk about the son of God (18:4-5).

Jesus taught them compassion and mercy in the Gospels, but Christians turned to monasticism…many of them are evil-livers (57:27).

Fight against them, kill, convert, or subdue them and (only if it is beneficial to Islam) force them to pay a tax that Muslims do not have to pay (9:29-35). If they refuse to pay, kill them. (Other option is slavery).

Non-Muslims are condemned to hell/cursed/doomed/bad/evil/turned into swine or apes, etc. (2:61, 4:48, 4:50, 4:116, 4:47-52, 4:55, 4:157, 4:160, 5:12-5:13, 5:37, 5:51, 5:53, 5:59-60, 5:72-73, 5:79, 9:29-35, 18:52, 33:26, 59:14, 98:1).

Jews will face Allah’s wrath because they made friendships with those who disbelieve (5:80).

Must convert to Allah only, or else be doomed (2:62-65, 3:85). Note that 3:85 refers explicitly to the Islamic religion as the “Surrender.” Jews are wrong-doers who will face a painful doom unless they believe in Allah (4:160-161).

He who ascribes partners to Allah is lost, as if a bird has snatched him out of the air and taken him away (22:31)

Mohammad (Allah) says Jews look ugly and they are foolish (62:5). Jews are greedy (2:91), and are evil-livers (5:59).

Allah will mock Christians when they burn in Hell, asking them Where are your partners now? (40:73).

Priests and Rabbis do “evil work” (5:63). Many Jews guilty of evil conduct (5:81). Jews act like Christians when they are around Christians (5:82).

Some of them (people of the scripture) are believers, but most of them are evil-livers (3:110), wretchedness is upon them because they disbelieved, slew the prophets wrongfully, were rebellious and transgressed (3:112).

Muslims won’t get hurt fighting them (the people of the book), who will turn and flee and afterwards will not be helped (3:111)

The Jews and Christians flung the scripture behind their backs and gained evil (3:187)

Christians and Jews who disbelieve scripture are the worst creatures in Allah’s sight (98:6) and will receive hell-fire.

Idolaters are unclean (9:28). Turn away from idolaters (6:106). Don’t pray for idolaters (9:113). Let the idolaters kill their own children (6:137).

There's surely enough evidence within the Quran itself to show Islam is a religion of hate, evil, and war. The notion of it being a religion of peace is ridiculous to say the least. At the same time, you can also find evil in the Old Testament as well. Such as the killing of homosexuals, the stoning of disobedient children, and it goes on and on. Though, Jesus in the New Testament did not teach any such thing. Otherwise I'd say the Bible is just as evil. Though the Bible surely has it's evil parts, it does not compare to the Quran. Beliefs, especially blind belief, can get us into a lot of trouble...

If muslems beleive in parts of the bible, and it says it should not be added to or subtracted from. Then why the teaching of muhamed? The religion seems to contradict itself. They also beleive in Jesus and say he was just a prophet of good teaching, not the son of God. Jesus himself claimed to be the son of God, wouldn't that be concidered blasphamy then? Any religion that says if someone is a Jew or Christian must die, and if people worship idols let them kill their Babies!? Is disgusting and dangerous if you as me. Most religions teach peace and tolerance and good morals. Why don't we call this war what it is? A religious war. Muslims against the world!? Educate yourselves!! Do reserch, and learn the enemy!

This is terrible. Im a christians and Im utterly disappointed. When i went to a certain state in Palestine, those very words to exterminate non-islam was written in black and white and hung rite in front of a mosque. it was so huge, no one will miss it.

This is horrible. I don't know what religion you are but does it say ANYWHERE in YOUR own scriptures to hate? That is what you are doing. Hating. And IF you actually think muslims hate you, then you should only show them love so that they cannot hate you. If you continue this, you will only give them reason to hate.

Citizen Warrior said...

Wait. Let me get this straight. So I quote hateful passages from the Koran, and you say that my quoting these hateful passages is what, hate speech?

Here's some more hate speech:

http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2010/08/hate-speech.html

These are photos of Muslims following the passages in their holy books. Some would call their hateful signs hate speech, but some, like you maybe, would call my POSTING of the signs hate speech. Strange morality.

Im a muslim, i've read all these verses carefully, but i do not agree with the point that Quran asks muslims to hate non muslims. islam is a religion of love, peace and brotherhood. i know these verses have been taen from Quran but, u can never know the whole story just by readind a few verses that would leave u misunderstood. if u guys wanna know real islam y dont u check out what the NON MUSLIM scholars say about islam im sure u guys would believe whatever they say........... islam never asks u to kill ppl just bcz they're non munslims. it only allows that in case of ur defense. i dont really remember that chapter or verse but it says," Fight only against those who fights against u." i dont think taz wrong every human beign does the samething, they fight in order to defend themselves. Most importantly these verses r not clarifying what islam really says, out of 6666 verses of quran he has taken ut only those which wud make ppl think tat islam is a religion of hatered n war. dont think u guys knw everything just by reading 2 or 3 verses outta Quran, if u wanna study Islam study it fully and complete, u have every detail available on the internet about islam. study the life of our prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H)bcz v follow him, v r his descendants. he never tought us anythng like tat. yes these verses do exist in Quran but only for those who without knowing islam n muslims want nothing but being creul, evil n disrespectful to our religion. the best option tat islam gives us is tat no matter wat non muslims do to u, what they say about u, forgive them. Try to settle all fights n disputes by peace, ny talkng n negotiating with them, but if they still wanna dont listen n keep up against u then.......... then only u have the right to protect urself n isla, by going against them. when u check out the eyes or nose of a person the appear to b ugly, but when u take an overall look at tat person, he/she isn't so bad at all. plz dont reach the conclusion without serious n proper reasearch. v try to live in peace, tats our objective. cant say anymore but, plz dont analyze islam just by a few verses, a study of full Quran might b able to change ur thoughts about islam, again im saying it is not a bad religion, u'll knw after u investigate.

There are 527 verses in the Koran that are intolerant or hostile toward non-Muslims. Here they are:

http://www.inquiryintoislam.com/2011/04/intolerance-toward-non-muslims-in-quran.html

I have read the Koran twice cover to cover. For a non-Muslim, it is a horrible book. If you are a non-Muslim, there is absolutely nothing to like about the book.

i am amazed at your ignorance..and how you are using the references totally out of context and took so much pains in making a blog out of it.. had you taken this much pain in reading quraan properly(and by properly i mean full quraan with context and references) and even your own books ..you would have known things better.. if even after reading quraan(as you say you have) you still putting allah in bracket after muhammad..that means you find no diffrnce in both.. thats a big example of your ignorance.... why allah mentioned killings and jihad..at what scene..what was the need..you have no idea.. that means you havnt read the world history..history of islam.. half knowledge can be so dangerous..i never knew.. you gave me a good example of becoming negative coz of lack of guidance.. you spend time in defaming one thing..instead of creating something better.. islam is spreading destruction tha what are you doing..you are having a distructive mentality as well.. :) anyways..islam teaches patience.. and i wouldnt give reference as you seem enuf learned.. but i would like to tell you ki islam is becoming stringer day by day.. and no such blog can defame it.. after the movie to insult mohammad(saw) ws made and the controversy compelled a german lady to know islam and accept it.. those who open quraan jst to find destruction, will find only that....read it with a clean mind and you will know the truth..

Nazia, please expend your effort teaching your "truths" about Islam to your fellow Muslims who are blowing themselves up, killing random infidels, and subverting the governments of free nations. Convincing non-Muslims that Islam is peaceful does nothing but empower the devoted, violent, politically-aggressive Muslims by rendering non-Muslims stupid and incapable of defending their freedoms.

Anonymous said...

@ Nazia. What you call half knowledge is the amount of knowledge most people have, muslims or not. Have all muslims read all the books and all of the history and understand the more benign interpretation? No. In fact most don't. I read the book. And I am not a muslim. And all I read was the punishment that should be met out to me for not being a muslim. It was almost there on every Page and many times on every Page in fact. To me that is not morally correct, of any religion to be so divisive. Nobody is a better man just by the virtue of being a certain religion. I agree with you that when the book was written, the world was more entrenched in wars and hence context might help in discounting the expressed hate. But I think the book should be revised to become more compatible with modern moral principles about freedom of faith, speech and gender equality. And muslims must support that for their own religion to flourish.

@G_Khan Saheb,
"Im a muslim, i've read all these verses carefully, but i do not agree with the point that Quran asks muslims to hate non muslims"
You are muslim and you have already read all such verses, but how can you say that these are not spreading hatred. And this is the truth that The Holy quran say to hate and not believe on non-believers. This is also make partiality between male and female.
Quran always teach us female is half of man (not directly but in directly ) while both are the creator of God. Kindly I requested you and to Ms. Siddiqui provide us the verse who tell to Muslims to love non-believers, not to kill them, not to tortured them until they pay you Jijiyah or accept Islam. I/We will be grateful to you

You cant talk about Islam as a religion if you have no position to do so. You need to fully understand an ayah and bring its complete context, not the single ayah. And showing people only the bad things about an issue is obviously going to make them side with that. If you are going to show the bad, at least have some justification and show the good side so people make an aware decision or opinion.

No anonymous, if a book can not easily explain itself, it is then open to interpretation by anyone, making it a dangerous book, perhaps why there seems to be non stop world wide muslim violence.. I personally do not find it hard to understand what Mohammad means when he said
Qur'an:9:88 "The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah's Cause." and what is allahs cause??? Qur'an:9:29 "Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission." or.. Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah." or Ishaq:324 "He said, 'Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.'" and oh this one cant surely be true if it is a religion of peace eh.
Tabari IX:69 "Arabs are the most noble people in lineage, the most prominent, and the best in deeds. We were the first to respond to the call of the Prophet. We are Allah's helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in the Cause of Allah. Killing him is a small matter to us." or this one..
Tabari VI:138 "Those present at the oath of Aqabah had sworn an allegiance to Muhammad. It was a pledge of war against all men. Allah had permitted fighting."

gee, these are so easy to understand eh and many others like it..

and yes in the first quarter Mohammad seemed to follow the path of peace, but unfortunately he or Allah seemed to change his mind and it was after that that verses of hate, killing, chopping off hands, or heads, raping, plundering, taking booty, slaves, sex slaves etc came into being, now anonymous, does this really sound like something you really want to follow, good gracious a Muslim is in danger from his own if he is not even in the right Muslim belief, your lives are full of fear in case you do not do the right thing, you are ruled by fear, where as with Christianity, we allow God to convict people so that when they are convicted it is sincere in their hearts and not our of fear

There are many verses in the Quran which teach Muslims to fool non Muslims and to use deceit to prevent them from Ganging up against Muslims and destroying the evil Islamic faith which is Satanic and has no God like Qualities to it.

The God of the Quran and his prophet are both diabolically evil and any non-muslim who stands up to defend the faith of the Muslims is definitely a Useful Idiot.

The Rapid expansion of Islam and its near total wiping out of Indigenous cultures and practices from Morocco to Indonesia is not merely coincidence but was possible because the Muslims were the most motivated foot soldiers for the evil spirit who gave them the Koran through their diabolical prophet.

India and Pakistan split because of religious rivalry. Attempts to come up with a compromise constitution favourable to both Muslims and Hindus failed and India descended into civil war. Following the signing of the Indian Independence Act in 1947, the Muslim majority areas were separated from India, creating the independent state of Pakistan.

In the following verses of the quran, it is told to be nice to one's parents, even if they are non muslims, however when is not to follow them when they ask to associate partners with the one creator. Other then that they should be treated with utmost respect and kindness. This is just one of the examples of how non-muslims should be treated.

31:14 (Asad) “And [God says:] ‘We have enjoined upon man goodness towards his parents: his mother bore him by bearing strain upon strain, and his utter dependence on her lasted two years: [14] [hence, O man,] be grateful towards Me and towards thy parents, [and remember that] with Me is all journeys’ end.

After reading the following verses you may like to follow this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ajZkO9WIWw

to hear about one of the verses where the quran is telling to "KILL".

31:15 (Asad) “‘[Revere thy parents;] yet should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine], [16] obey them not; but [even then] bear them company in this world’s life with kindness, and follow the path of those who turn towards Me. In the end, unto Me you all must return; and thereupon I shall make you [truly] understand all that you were doing [in life].’

I have read both the quran and the bible.
Christian scholars are always changing and re interpreting verses and meanings.
Look back in history to see the results.
So it is with the quran.
It is up to you the people to choose in your hearts the right thing to do.
You know the difference between right and wrong so if you want peace, strive for it, both Christian and Muslim.
Denounce those who preach otherwise.
If they don't want peace then cast them out of your society, be they Christian or Muslim.
God has given us choice.
Only we can choose.
Praise be to God! !

first off let me say im biased against ANY or at least most organized religions due to their reliance on forms of brainwashing the youth of this world to perpetuate their faith. surely if a God exist as these faiths would have you believe "it" would not need to rely on forms of coercion to find the enlightened truth of this world. i think it would be fair to assume none of the religious founders of any major faith came to their religious enlightenment by way of coercion. so why then is it right then to expect average humans to find their true faith through coercion. this is a contradiction of thought and action if there ever was one. simply stated the idea that the average human be given enough freedom of thought to decide what to think for themselves is still alien in many cultures. this freedom of thought is defended by true democracies throughout the world. Muslims comment here stating that Islam is a religion of peace and im here to state that indeed i have met many friendly peaceful caring Muslims in my worldly travels. that said i have also avoided traveling to countries that have a culture of perpetuating the faith of Islam by fear of death. in these Muslim states honor killings are to be expected and women bear the brunt of this form of Islam. if by some chance a Muslim man goes to sleep in one of these Islamic states, has a dream and wakes up yearning to be say a Buddhist or some other religion, they express this yearning knowing full well it could mean their death. this is one of the reasons why Muslims can boast that their religion is the fastest growing religion in the world, problem is it's growth is not one fueled by freedom of thought but by subjugation. Until Muslims admit such facts they are living a fantasy. truth is in this world nothing created by humans is perfect, yes, not even the Koran. All good Muslims have the duty to not only read the Koran in a critical light in relation to culture but to openly address it's shortcomings as a text bearing many contradictions as other more open religions do. simply put almighty God doesnt need or rely on puny humans to do the dirty work on this earth.

Anonymous said...

ALL organized religions often fail in their "peaceful" objectives of spreading true wisdom as humans are complex and very imperfect. simply put, like it or not we are animals and NOT demi-Gods or angels. the longer any religious text is the more likey it will fail due to it's misinterpretation by way of distortion and the failure to realize power is corrupt by it's very nature. ALL organized religions rely on forms of brainwashing their young to perpetuate the faith. the enlightened truth becomes distorted and twisted to suit the culture rather then the other way around as intended. the less critical study of the texts envolved the more elusive becomes it's truth. I think it would be a fine thing if ALL good Muslims preach their faith by way of religious freedom of thought rather then have Islam perpetuated by fear of death as is the case in many Muslim cultures. many tout Islam as the fastest growing religion in the world but is this by freedom of choice or by threats of violence? can good Muslims deny that in many Islamic countries if a believer goes to sleep and has a dream and wakes up yearning to become say a Buddhist, that this is expressed in their community knowing full well it could mean their very real death. why is this? almighty God "ALLAH" surely doesnt need imperfect humans to carry out the dirty work and killing of "his" it's creation. that is surely better left to "him" alone. if God "ALLAH" intended humans to live in a monoculture, God being almighty would have simply created it that way. for Islam to be a truly enlightened religion it must allow the breath of freedom of choice as other religions now accept as the only way to true peace. truth is a growth process not a stone to hit someone over the head with.truth by way of subjugation is simply abuse and totally disrespectful of the potential of the human mind.

All those quotes from the Bible seem very appropriate, but are irrelevant for two reasons. First, criticism about the Qur'an isn't nullified by criticism about another religion. But more importantly, do you know of any Christians who are following those teachings? And yet Muslims ARE following the Qur'an's teachings. Why? Because the Qur'an specifically says these teachings are for all time, not for some specific circumstance.

I'm not a Christian. But it is obvious the two religions are very different. Read more:

Those who can't see or don't want to believe that Islam is something extremely dangerous are just fooling themselves. Unfortunately, people tend to compare it with other religions and therefore, to extrapolate the 'liberty of cult' speech. The thing is, Islam is not like the other religions. It is not compatible with the contemporaneous world, nor with any modern country. It won't accept anyone believing in another religion, ir not believing in none. It's imperative we don't be fooled by their" " if peace" speech, since their conception of peace is so different from ours. To them, peace will only be achieved when every single person follows Islam. So... Whole humanity is endangered by this so called "religion".

Murtadd said...

@JHN... You have said a lot of absolutely nothing. I want you to notice that all those verses apply to and was practiced under the law of Moses. We as christians are under the new covenant that was prophesied by the prophets of old. The covenant that was made to Abraham and carried on by Isaac was fulfilled in us christians.

The law of Moses was valid only until Jesus came this law ended immediately at the cross when Christ died. Colossians 2:14. (KJV) 14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and TOOK it OUT of the way, nailing it to his cross; ". Ephesians 2:14-15 (KJV) 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having ABOLISHED in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

As we can see the bible clearly talks of a new covenant and that covenant was fulfilled in Jesus Christ hence the old prescribes of stoning, killing people etc was abolished. Hebrews 9:15 Therefore he is the mediator of a
new covenant, so that those who are
called may receive the promised
eternal inheritance, since a death
has occurred that redeems them
from the transgressions committed
under the first covenant.

So the muslim has no leg to stand on when they run to old testament descriptions to apply it to christian prescriptions. Jesus himself said " Love your neighbour as yourself". With reference to Luke 19:27 read the verse again muslim. Jesus is telling a parable about a king who wanted to kill people who didn't want him to reign over him. This is not Jesus that wanna kill subjects. In Christ, by Christ, for Christ
